CHILD MARRIAGE (THE
ACT OF THE IGNORANCE)
Child marriage occurs in various time and places where by
children are given in matrimony before marriageable age, often puberty.it is
frequently associated with arranged marriage in some cases only one partner is a
child usually the female due to importance placed upon female virginity.
UNICEF calls it as a formal
marriage before 18years .UNITED NATION women calls it as a forced
marriage before 18 years of age because they believe children under 18 years
are incapable of giving their consent
FACT ABOUT CHILD MARRIAGE
There are lots of scaring fact about child marriage that
happens
1.According to the international center for research on
women (ICRM) 100 million of girls will be married before the age of 18 in the
coming decade. most will be in the sub-saharan Africa and Asia sub continental (Nepal,India,Pakistan).
2.Globally according to UNICEF 36% of women aged 20-24 where
married or in a union forced or consensual before they’d reach 18
3.An estimated 14 million girls between the age of 15 and 19 give birth each year, they
twice as like to die during pregnancy or child birth than women in their 20s
4.Girls who marry between the age of 10 and 14 are five
times as likely to die during pregnancy or child birth as women in the early
20s
CAUSES OF CHILD MARRIAGE
Child marriage has many causes: cultural, social economic
and religious. The mixture of there causes result
1.Poverty:poor families sell
their children into marriage either to settle debt or to make some money
and child marriage foster s poverty however girls who marry young will not be
properly educated or take part in the workforce.
2.Gender discrimination: child marriage is a product of
culture that devalue women and girls discrimination against them
3.Trafficking:poor families are tempted to sell their girls
not just into marriage but into prostitution as the transaction enables large
sum of money to change hands (in tribal system a man pays a bride price to the
girls family in other to marry her and have the right to do anything to her)
4.Inadequate laws: many countries such as Pakistan have laws
against child marriage ,communities too impose their own form of law including
permitting children marriage
5.Protecting girls sexually in certain culture marring girls
young ensures that the family honor will be ‘’protected’’ but ensure that the
girl marries as a VIRGIN
PROBLEM OF CHILD MARRIAGE
There are lots of problem that will arise when a girl is
married at a young inmature age such as poor health, early death and lack of
educational opportunities lead the list of problems attributed to child
marriage.
1.Child brides have a double pregnancy death rate of women
in their 20s
2.Babies of child marriage are sicker and weaker and many
did not survive childhood
3.child bride have a higher risk of being infected with
sexually transmitted disease
4.young girls are at high risk of chronic anemia obesity
5.sexually transmitted disease because child bride have poor
access to contraception
Lack of girls education opportunities lifetime of poverty (statistically,
child bride have a higher risk of becoming a victim of domestic violence sexually
abuse and murder)

OF CHILD MARRIAGE
Despite many countries enacting marriageable age laws to
limit marriage to a minimum age of 16-18.poverty,religion,traditional conflict
make the rate of child marriage in sub-saharan Africa and similar to south Asia
and almost around the world
In most African countries practice the act for example:
Mali have 72% of girls marring before the age of 18
Kenya have 21%,Niger&Chad have above 70% and in Ethiopia
& Nigeria girls of 15 are put in marriage even as young as 7 are married in
Niger and many more country
Asian countries have high rate of child marriage, this
happen in most Asian country such as India, Pakistan and many more
47% of India women were married before the age of 18,40%
child marriage happens in India and rural area of Pakistan
Child marriage marriage happens every where in the world south
America, Asia, Europe, Africa and lots
The main cause of child marriage is mainly illiteracy many
family of those that engage in childe marriage are local and uneducated people,
and poor people find them self doing it because they have no option than to
give there girls in marriage because of
the money involve and ignorance make some family sell there child into slavery and
prostitution unaware.
The ways I think child marriage can be reduced or stop is: country
should enact strict laws against it and they should set marriageable age to 18
and they should educating rural people about the danger involve in early
marriage.
As the world population is increasing every day, I think is
the high time to cope child marriage do you think enacting laws against it and
setting the age to 18 will be able to cope it or what do you think can reduced
or stop child marriage
