Teenage girls become sexually active after puberty, interactions with their peers who engage in sexual activities may lead them to experiment in unprotected sex which can lead to unwanted pregnancy.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE

This manifest in many different ways. A girl may be raped by a male which can lead to pregnancy, a girl may be unable to resist her boyfriend demands for sex. Some advanced men have sex with underage girls and impregnate them in the process

Other causes of teenage pregnancy are lack of sexual education, media influence, lack of essential life and communication skills that promote sexuality and productive health of girls

EFFECT OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Young girls body are not mature enough for bearing a child, maternal and parental health of pregnant or parenting teenagers/adolescent are at risk eg premature birth, tearing of the uterus during birth process, over bleeding and maternal death.

SOCIAL EFFECT

PREVENTION OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Preventing teenage pregnancy calls for collective effort by all in every community.

1.       Parent should avoid forcing their children into underage relationship see more:-

2.       School system should set up the office of student counselor to provide advice service & sex education to young peoples

3.       Sex education should be strengthened at all levels

4.       Teenage should abstain from premarital sex which can lead to early pregnancy
